MIT: Everywhere Fun Fair!, August 5-9

Our JH youth are getting ready to be Missionaries in Training as they serve with VBS and in the community, cook and eat together, and have lots of fun!

Please keep the group in your prayers as we explore our Everywhere Fun Fair, and check out the FUMC Youth in Mission blog for pictures and updates from the week!

Round Rock Express, Tuesday August 13, 6PM

Join us for a night of baseball and fun at the Round Rock Express! Meet at the FLC at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, 8/13 to carpool to the Dell Diamond. Pick up will be approx. 11 p.m. at the FLC.

Party Barge, Sunday August 18, 12-5:15PM

 

All youth and their friends are invited to join us for the annual Party Barge on the lake! We will celebrate the coming year by taking a barge filled with youth, fun, and food out on the water for the afternoon.

We will meet in the FLC following 11 a.m. services, and will be back at the church at 5:15 p.m. 

Bring your swimsuit, a towel, and $15 for an awesome afternoon on the lake!

UMARMY BASIC, July 21-25umarmylogo

This Sunday, our JH mission team will leave for a week in mission in San Antonio with UMARMY BASIC. As we meet and serve with new friends – painting landscaping, and have a blast – keep us, and the whole UMARMY camp, in your prayers.

Zilker Hillside Theater: Little Shop of Horrors, July 26 7PM

All youth and their families are invited to join us on Friday, July 26th, for a picnic dinner and a show! We will see this summer’s musical from the Zilker Hillside Theater: Little Shop of Horrors.

The show starts around 8:30 but Cathy and Erin will be at the park at 7PM to snag a spot and enjoy a picnic dinner. Join us anytime between 7 and 8:30.

Bring a dinner, a blanket, and some friends, and we’ll see you at the show!

We need Sunday School teachers needed, please!

“Start children (and youth) off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”   Proverb 22:6

“I am the church, you are the church, we are the church together…” This was recently sung in worship. We are the church, together. When a baby/child/youth/adult is baptized we make promises to “surround these persons with a community of love and forgiveness, that they may grow in their trust of God, and be found faithful in their service to others.” It takes all of us…

Summer Sunday School teachers for children and youth are needed each week during the summer months. We give the regular teachers the summer off (although a few of them still teach a time or two during the summer!). We count on parents and other church members to step up – or sign up for a Sunday and bring in a guest teacher that you know!

We invite you to prayerfully consider how you can support our children and youth this summer through teaching and mentoring them in their Christian faith formation.

Mission and a Movie, Thursday July 11

Join us on Thursday, July 11th for Mission and a Movie! All JH youth and incoming 6th graders are invited to spend the afternoon in mission and watching a movie in Wesley Hall. This week, we will serve at the Austin FreeStore and watch Shrek.

We will meet at 12pm and finish at 5pm. Drop off and pick up will be in front of the chapel. Youth need to bring a sack lunch and we will have snacks for the movie.

Service day at Urban Roots 8:30am-12:30pm, July 13

On Saturday, July 13, we will be joining University UMC youth for a morning of service at Urban Roots. Urban Roots is a non-profit focused on youth development through sustainable agriculture in the middle of Austin! Wear clothes you can get dirty and bring a water bottle.

Drop off youth at 8:30am and pick up at 12:30pm at the church.

FUMC only has 8 spots available for youth, so sign up early!

All youth under 18 must have a signed consent form – you can find the link on the sign up page or at fumcaustinyouth.org

MIT: Everywhere Fun Fair will be August 5-9 (same week as VBS) from 9AM-5PM – it’s an all day adventure exploring how God’s love can be found everywhere!

You can register in two ways: print and turn in the MIT 2013 registration form.pdf or register online here.

Registration closes on Sunday, July 14 – sign up today!
We also need 3 SH youth to serve with us as youth leaders – if you are interested, please let us know!

Join FUMC and University UMC youth for a morning of service with Urban Roots!

This Saturday, July 13, we will be joining University UMC youth for a morning of service at Urban Roots. Urban Roots is a non-profit focused on youth development through sustainable agriculture in the middle of Austin! Wear clothes you can get dirty and bring a water bottle.

Drop off and pick up will be at the church.
